Highgate Ostrich Show Farm

Highgateis the world's oldest, family-run ostrich show farm, situated in Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo. It is working ostrich farm at the same time, so at Highgate things are not just for show!

Guests can expect a real African farm experience when joining a traditional tour at Highgate (approx. 1h20min long):

• They will learn more about ostriches, ostrich farming, breeding methods and visit the hatching room.
• They will visit our in-house mini factories where they can see the making of dusters, feather boas, engraving and decoupaging of ostrich eggs and dying of feathers
• They will interact with ostriches - one can feed them and sit on an ostrich
• They will witness the jockeys racing on the backs of ostriches

After the tour, guests are invited to visit Highgate’s beautiful curio shop where genuine products are sold, some of them produced on the farm itself: Guests will find anything their heart desires from ostrich leather products, ostrich eggs to feather dusters and fashion items.

Lunch or dinner is offered at Highgate Ostrich Show Farm: Guests will be able to enjoy a tasty traditional meal at the Pepper Tree Restaurant. “Tour & Meal” packages are available.
